Being a single parent is tough, but there are also so many benefits to being a single parent too. You might not be able to see them straight away. But the time will come where you sit back and realise the benefits outweigh the negatives of single parenting. There is no shame in being a single parent, in fact, you need a badge of honour for doing it all by yourself. Well done you! So here are the best parts of solo parenting or lone parenting with your little ones.

Nobody else comes between you and your kids
It is you and your kids – nobody else matters. Single parents have a slightly different relationship with their children than parents that are married. Because there is only you and your child (or children), you talk more and usually spend more time together.
You are both mama and papa bear to your kids, if anyone hurts them it is you that sorts it out. You are their only protector and you will protect them until you die.
Nobody will tell you how to bring your kids up
There is no partner to tell you how to bring your child up or to tell you that you are not doing something in the right way. There will be nobody to battle with when you have different ideas from your partner. You are the only adult in their life that can tell them what to do and when to do it. Especially if you know what is right for them at the time. You bring up your children, how you want to and nobody else.
There is no arguing about who does what jobs
You will have a happier lifestyle with your children because there are no arguments about who does what job with the kids. There is no arguing over who is doing the school run or who needs to get up in the night. Because there is no arguing, your life is so much more tranquil and you are happier.
Pride that you are doing this yourself
The fact that you get up every morning and you do everything for your children, is something to be so proud about. You are doing so well and you deserve that pack on the back! Nobody can take that pride away from you. The best part about being proud is that the absent parent realises that you have got this sorted out and you don’t need them.
You don’t have to share the good times with anyone else
This goes along with the pride, you don’t have to share the good times with anyone at all. All of those things that you do with your children are special moments that they will remember forever. Just you and your kids. You will have some special memories that you don’t have to tell anyone about.
Breaking the rules is fun and nobody tells you off
So what if you want to do something naughty with your kids. You can run away for the weekend with them and not have to answer to a partner or even drag them along too. You can keep the kids up late if you want and its not going to annoy anyone else. And you can give them pizza for breakfast – because there is nobody to tell you not to do it. You make and break the rules and set the boundaries.
You are independent
Soon you learn how much you can do things yourself. You figure out how to change light bulbs in your car and how to lay a carpet. Becoming a single parent will soon make you realise that you never needed your partner in the first place! It will also teach your kids that they do not need to rely on anyone else.
